A new report from classification society ABS, produced in collaboration with Intelatus Global Partners, indicates that demand for high-capability vessels supporting floating offshore wind projects is set to strengthen, with availability constraints possible in certain segments as early as 2029. According to a report by the International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS), the study is titled “Floating Offshore Wind and the Vessels That Support It.”

The report examines the anticipated role of large anchor handling tug supply vessels (AHTSs) and multipurpose support vessels (MPSVs) in floating wind project execution. It looks at questions of vessel suitability, potential upgrades, and future fleet requirements as the sector develops.
