This page explains what apeks.tech measures, how, and what choice you have. In short: the site works fully without cookies, and anything that isn't essential only runs if you say yes.

Data controller

Apeks Marine & Engineering operates the apeks.tech publication and is the data controller for the personal data described in this notice.

Personal data we may process

Depending on how you visit or use the site, we may process:

  • Your email address when you subscribe to the newsletter.
  • Your newsletter consent, confirmation and subscription status, with related timestamps.
  • The source of the form submission, selected language and, where present, UTM source, campaign and medium information.
  • Technical signals used to protect forms and prevent spam or abuse.
  • Device, browser, visit, interaction and online identifier information generated through cookies and similar technologies.

Why we process personal data

We may process personal data to:

  • Send the newsletter you requested, confirm your subscription and manage subscription preferences.
  • Protect the newsletter service, forms and site from spam and abuse.
  • Understand site use, measure performance and improve the site.
  • Measure the reach of content, announcements and advertising campaigns.
  • Meet legal obligations and assess legal claims.

Legal grounds

Depending on the activity, we rely on:

  • The consent and subscription approval you provide when joining the newsletter.
  • Consent for cookies and measurement technologies where consent is required.
  • Legitimate interests in protecting the service, securing forms and preventing abuse.
  • Circumstances where processing is expressly required by law or necessary to meet a legal obligation.

This notice is not itself a request for consent. Where consent is required, it is requested separately.

Recipients and international transfers

We may share personal data, only as necessary for the purposes above, with:

  • Email service providers used to deliver, confirm or manage newsletter subscriptions.
  • Google Analytics 4 for site measurement.
  • Meta Pixel for advertising and campaign measurement.
  • Competent public authorities and others where disclosure is legally required.

Google, Meta and email service providers may use infrastructure located outside Türkiye or allow access from abroad. Where an international transfer is required, the safeguards and transfer mechanisms required by applicable data-protection law are used.

Retention

Newsletter subscription records are retained until the subscriber chooses to unsubscribe. The record is deleted when the subscriber unsubscribes or asks for deletion.

Cookie-related data may be processed for the period a relevant cookie remains in your browser and in line with the relevant provider’s applicable retention rules.

Your rights

Under Article 11 of Türkiye’s Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (“KVKK”), you may request to:

  • Learn whether your personal data is processed.
  • Request information if it has been processed.
  • Learn the purpose of processing and whether it is used accordingly.
  • Know the third parties to whom data is transferred in Türkiye or abroad.
  • Request correction of incomplete or inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion or destruction where the legal conditions are met.
  • Request notification of correction, deletion or destruction to third parties receiving the data.
  • Object to an adverse result arising solely from automated analysis.
  • Request compensation for damage caused by unlawful processing.

How to apply

Send a clear request concerning your rights to hello@apeks.tech. We may request limited additional information to verify that the request is yours. Where applicable, you may also lodge a complaint with the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority.

Always on — no cookies, no identity

We record a lightweight, cookieless usage signal for every visit (page path, referring domain, device type, language) to see which pages are useful. It carries no cookie and no identifier that could tie it to you across visits, your IP address is not stored, and it is skipped entirely if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. This runs regardless of the choice below.

Only with your consent

The rest is optional and off by default (opt-in). A banner asks the first time you visit; choosing Decline keeps everything below switched off, and you can change your mind any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site.

Analytics

If you accept, we use Google Analytics (GA4) and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used — pages visited, session behaviour, scroll depth, on-site clicks (e.g. sharing an article, opening HullSnap or Apeks Marine, a newsletter signup). IP addresses are anonymised in GA4. Neither is used for advertising.

Advertising — Meta Pixel

If you accept, and only on visits reached through or exposed to an Apeks Tech ad campaign, we also load the Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Pixel. This shares data with Meta so we can measure and improve ad performance. It reports:

  • A page view on every page.
  • A view event on our campaign landing pages, so we know an ad led somewhere relevant.
  • A lead event when you submit the newsletter sign-up form.
  • Engagement events (playing a campaign video, sharing it, downloading a linked resource) on our seafarers campaign page specifically.

We do not send Meta the wider on-site behaviour data described above (article reads, unrelated link clicks) — only the events listed here, and only once you've accepted. Meta processes this under its own privacy policy; Google's applies to GA4 (policy) and Microsoft's to Clarity (policy).

Advertising and conversion measurement — LinkedIn Insight Tag

If you accept, we also load the LinkedIn Insight Tag. It answers one question: does what we share on LinkedIn actually turn into newsletter subscriptions? It reports:

  • Your page visit (using LinkedIn's own measurement cookies).
  • A single conversion event at the moment your subscription is confirmed and activated. Submitting the signup form does not trigger it; the event fires only when you confirm via the link in your email, and only once.

We never send LinkedIn your email address or any personal detail from the form — all that leaves the page is "a conversion happened". Unlike the other tools, this tag is only loaded if you accept; if you decline it never runs. LinkedIn processes this under its own privacy policy.

Your choice

Declining, or never answering the banner, means none of the tools above run — the cookieless signal described first is the only thing recorded, and every page, tool and form on apeks.tech works exactly the same either way.
