Strategic Partnership Targets IT/OT Convergence Risk
Marlink, a provider of managed services for business-critical digital solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with TXOne Networks, which specializes in cyber-physical systems and operational technology (OT) security. According to a report by Hellenic Shipping News, the partnership is aimed at strengthening cyber resilience across maritime and industrial operations by combining Marlink’s managed cybersecurity, connectivity, network and cloud services with TXOne’s OT security capabilities.
The companies say the goal is to help maritime operators and industrial organizations gain better visibility, protection and response capability across connected IT and OT environments. As vessels, offshore assets and shore-based industrial sites become increasingly networked, systems once kept isolated are now linked to onboard applications, remote access tools, cloud platforms and shore operations — expanding the potential attack surface.
Regulatory Drivers
For maritime customers, the partnership is positioned to support compliance with cyber resilience requirements such as IACS UR E26. On the industrial side, it is intended to help organizations align their OT security practices with recognized frameworks such as IEC 62443.
Executive Commentary
Nicolas Furgé, President Cyber at Marlink, said digital transformation is creating opportunities across maritime and industrial operations but is also expanding the potential cyber-attack surface. He said the partnership is meant to help customers secure critical operations, manage regulatory pressure, and adopt new technologies with confidence.
Nasser Zayour, Vice President Global Alliances and Channels at TXOne Networks, said protecting operational technology remains fundamental to safe and efficient operations, while customers increasingly need visibility across their full digital ecosystem. He described the partnership as extending TXOne’s OT security reach into a broader cyber resilience framework for maritime and industrial operators.
Portfolio Integration
The partnership will see TXOne Networks’ OT security capabilities added to Marlink’s Possibility Portfolio and its XChange NextGen edge platform. The companies said this is intended to deliver cyber resilience across vessels, offshore assets, industrial sites and remote operations, supporting a unified approach to securing both IT and OT environments.
Apeks view — IT/OT convergence is a real operational risk, not a marketing phrase: as onboard systems link to cloud platforms and remote access tools, the attack surface grows and so does the cost of a gap. Partnerships that pair managed connectivity with OT-specific security expertise are a sensible structural response. But resilience claims should ultimately be judged by evidence of tested outcomes and audited coverage, not portfolio announcements alone — owners and technical managers will want proof before confidence.
