On phase 4: RightShip's own publications differ, and not evenly. Its consolidated timeline — the most recent, and the one that describes itself as simplifying the rollout — gives 10 years from 1 January 2027, and its revised-timeline release also gives 10 years, across an October 2026 – January 2027 window. Its owner, manager and charterer guidance instead gives 10.5 years from 20 January 2027.

What is the RightShip inspection age trigger?
It is the vessel age at which RightShip expects a valid RightShip inspection to be in place. RightShip is reducing that age from 14 years to 10 across four phases. A vessel that reaches the relevant age without a valid inspection — or, if it is already older, a vessel without one on the phase implementation date — has its Safety Score downgraded.
When does the 11-year trigger apply?
Phase 3, at 11 years, has an implementation date of 1 July 2026. Phase 2, at 12 years, applied from 1 April 2026, and phase 1, at 13 years, ran from 1 July to 1 October 2025.
When does the final phase apply?
RightShip states it two ways. Two of its publications — the consolidated timeline, which is the most recent, and the revised-timeline release — put the last step at 10 years, from 1 January 2027. Its guidance page for owners, managers and charterers gives 10.5 years, from 20 January 2027.
