Why does the tool ask for ETS and FuelEU as inputs instead of calculating them?
Because those calculations already exist as dedicated tools on this site, with their own verified factors and their own assumptions shown. Recomputing them here would create two slightly different answers to the same question — the failure mode of every spreadsheet fleet. Run the EU ETS voyage cost calculator and the FuelEU estimator, then bring the figures here in USD.
What is deliberately left out?
Laytime and demurrage outcomes, bunker ROB pricing effects (FIFO vs market), hire adjustments and claims. They can move a voyage result materially, but they are settlement items, not fixture-decision items. This tool answers the pre-fixture question — is the voyage worth taking at these numbers — not the post-voyage accounting one.
What does TCE actually tell me?
Time Charter Equivalent spreads the voyage surplus over the days the voyage occupies the ship, so different voyages become comparable and the number can be held against your daily running cost. A voyage with an impressive lump-sum freight and a long ballast leg can carry a worse TCE than a modest short one — that is exactly the comparison this figure exists to expose.
