Contract Extensions Secured

DOF Group has reached long-term contract extensions with Petrobras covering two pipelay support vessels (PLSVs), the Skandi Buzios and Skandi Recife. According to a report by MarineLink, both agreements now run into January 2028, well beyond their previous expiry in the third quarter of 2026.

Following negotiations with Petrobras, Skandi Buzios received a 516-day extension, while Skandi Recife was granted a 550-day extension. DOF confirmed the terms in its announcement of the agreements.

Vessel Ownership Structure

Both PLSVs are owned through a joint venture between DOF and TechnipFMC, with each partner holding an equal 50% stake in the vessels. Pipelay support vessels of this type are used to install and support subsea pipeline infrastructure, a core requirement for Petrobras’ offshore oil and gas operations in Brazil.

Why It Matters for Offshore Support

The extensions provide DOF and TechnipFMC with multi-year revenue visibility on two specialized assets operating in the South American offshore market. For Petrobras, securing continued access to these PLSVs into 2028 supports ongoing subsea development and pipeline installation work tied to its offshore production activities.

The move reflects continued demand for specialized offshore support tonnage in the region, as operators look to lock in vessel availability for pipeline and subsea infrastructure projects over the medium term.
